HANK GRANBERG WITH HIS 1948 OLIVER

This is a 1948 Model 77 Standard Oliver. The Serial Number is 269109 and it is the 9th Tractor built in this series.
The instrument panel was rather Spartan. The Tag to the right of the instruments shows the  Double-H Shift Pattern for the six speed Transmission (two for reverse). The Crank Shaft has shell bearings with shims.

Its History as known, is that the Oliver was originally purchased by Paul Avery who lived on Denman Island. It was used to open farmland on the Island. It was then sold to Pam Brons, also from Denman Island. She, in turn, Donated the tractor to our Club. Along with other donated equipment, it was auctioned off at our annual wind-up dinner and auction. The lucky bidder Hank Granberg ended up with his new Oliver.

This was about two years ago. It required a lot of work, as it was seized solid with a ton of rust. Hank took the pistons out, cleaned and polished and added new rings. The cylinder head had to be machined and Hank had to replace the regulator and the carburetor. This was only a small part that was required. It took Hank with some help of his many good friends about a year to restore it to its present condition.
